   Neo Geo MVS

The Original cart based 2D powerhouse needs no introduction.  The Neo Geo MVS platform is the reigning king of the 2D arena.  With over 140 individual software titles, and a still active lifespan approaching 12 years, this is the Grand-daddy of the trio.

  PolyGameMaster

A very little known system from an Asian company named IGS.  The PGM(PolyGameMaster) has been around since 1997 and has a very respectable library of games, including what very well could be the best D&D series of all time, Knights of Valor.

   Crystal System

The brand new kid on the block.  The Crystal system by Korean company Brezza is less than 6 months old and ready to take a piece of the 2D marketplace.  With only 1 title currently released, but 3 more soon to hit the market(the next being Evolution Soccer), this could become the new king.  Only time will tell if the system is supported, but the first title, Crystal of Kings shows incredible promise.
